Cosmic Granny and the Old Days was made possible through a Project Award granted by the Arts Council of Ireland and with the help of these key people and organisations: my father Micheál Fitzgerald, editor of The Inch Conglomerate Christopher Steenson, geologist Liam Ó Bharáin and Dúchas: The National Folk Archive.
This site-specific geopoem was installed on Moan Laur Mountain from the 25 October 2019 – 1 September 2020. The accompanying publication, The Inch Conglomerate, was available to purchase for the duration of the project from a newspaper box placed in-situ to the text piece on the Dingle Way walking path.
Thanks to friends, family and neighbours who gave help and advice during the formation and installation of the project: Alan James Burns, Mick O’Hara, Deirdre Costello, Tom Fitzgerald, James Merrigan, Jenny Prahin, Dómhnal Ó Bric, Marie Moriarty, Nicholas McLachlan, Con Collins, Ann Maria Healy, Susan Keating, Niamh Fitzgerald, Jane Fitzgerald, J.J. Smith and Darren O’Callaghan.
Very special thanks to: Rob Clarke for CNC cutting, Foley’s Bar Inch for hosting our panel discussion/community meeting, Kate Kennelly (Kerry Arts Officer), Dublin Enquirer for lending their newspaper box, Matt Packer, Joanne Laws, Fergus Fitzgerald, The Fire Station Artists’ Studios, Marshall P. Keating, Magical Fergus, Christopher Steesnon (for sound recording at Foley’s Bar, Inch) and the Arts Council of Ireland.
